We have a career opportunity for a Wastewater Process Control Engineer to join our team!

 

The successful candidate works directly with the Manager Wastewater Operations and Manager Wastewater Maintenance. Supports wastewater operations: validates process performance and control methods, regulatory compliance and reporting, applied studies and research. Supports facilities maintenance: equipment and systems troubleshooting and optimization, technical planning, design and construction support to maintenance projects. Supports capital program: technical, operation and maintenance input and support to large capital project planning, design, construction and commissioning.

Minimum Salary: $82,200 (Grade 10)

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and makes recommendations for new or revised wastewater process control methodologies based on technical analysis of process performance data.
  • Provides field evaluations and recommends design operation or maintenance modifications.
  • Analyzes wastewater plant data to identify root causes of biological or biochemical upset orinterferences which may occur.
  • Implements Statistical Process Controls in wastewater unit processes to the extent practical.
  • Coordinates operation and maintenance to obtain optimum utilization of systems and processes.
  • Authors technical reports interpreting plant performance and identifying trends and/or otheropportunities for unit process optimization.
  • Recommends process instrumentation improvements and other data collection improvements to facilitate implementation of Statistical Process Control methods.
  • Reviews and evaluates process instrumentation and control systems for optimization and improvements.
  • Reviews and critiques capital project planning and design efforts and documents.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Chemical Engineering
  • Three to five years of working experience in Civil or Chemical Engineering.
  • Ability to attain a Class IV Indiana wastewater plant operator's license within one year.
  • Ability to incorporate Statistical Process Control to wastewater treatment processes.
  • Strong technical mathematics and statistics background.
  • Strong technical document writing abilities.
  • Ability to utilize statistical and process control software, analyze and interpret wastewater unit process data.
  • Ability to author and present reports and make recommendations in technical forums.
  • Comprehensive and thorough knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, bio-solids processing and incineration, air emissions systems and standards, laboratory standard methods for water and wastewater, and operation and maintenance procedures for related equipment is required.
  • Must demonstrate a working ability to use a computer or computer device for record keeping
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Word and Excel, Lab testing programs.
  • Experience in budgeting and utility plant performance, and tracking.
  • Requires excellent reading, math, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to carry out verbal and written instructions and the ability to read drawings and maps and interpret documents such as safety, operating, maintenance and procedure manuals.
  • Must communicate and work well with both internal and external customers, management and the general public; and establish effective working relationships with all employees and customers.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Indiana driver's license.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Civil or Chemical Engineering and registered as a P.E.
  • Proficient with HachWims, BioWin, GIS, 7i, SCADA
  • Experience and skill using Oracle EBS and WAM
