We have a career opportunity for a Transmission Control Specialist to join our team!

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for learning and demonstrating the ability to safely maintain consistent operations based on SOP’s (Standard Operation Procedures) and guidance documents, including but not limited to, the transmission control system, booster and treatment plant pump station operations, bleeder valve operations and SCADA system controls. Position includes performing general inspection of boosters, bleeders, tanks, and valve pits. Also assisting with the safety watch at various locations where site conditions require additional safety measures. The Transmission Control Specialist is required to learn and demonstrate the ability to operate equipment and processes in automatic and manual state. The incumbent is required to participate in all in-house training programs, and obtain a Distribution System Large (DSL) license within 24 months of job acceptance. The Transmission Control Specialist will be under the guidance of the Transmission Controllers

Work Hours: Work schedules include fixed and rotating shifts as assigned. Primary shift will be PM to AM and may include partial weekend work. 

 

Minimum Salary (Grade 7): $58,300/yr

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine rounds documenting various readings including, but not limited to; pump station flows and pressures, tank levels, voltage readings, and hour run times. Make necessary adjustments on automatic and manual control equipment to ensure efficient operations under emergency conditions or as requested. Ability to stop, start and operate all equipment for manual operation during the loss of control communications. Document and report irregularities and abnormal conditions of equipment and process variations to Transmission Controllers and/or Manager.
  • Learns about how to monitor and control the transmission of potable water in the distribution system through Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition Systems to maintain system parameters within process control limits. This includes control of pump stations, reservoirs, tanks, bleeder valves, and monitoring of chlorine residuals.
  • Assist with reviews of daily/monthly operational data to optimize control system operations to meet internal standards and Partnership for Safe Water goals.
  • Must be able and available to work overtime as circumstances require

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Must possess high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Required to obtain and hold a valid Distribution System Large (DSL) license within 24 months of job acceptance
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Requires the ability to carry out verbal and written instructions
  • Must have the ability to establish effective working relationships with other employees
  • Must be able to work in inclement weather conditions
  • Must be able and available to work shift work and overtime as circumstances require
  • Must maintain a valid Indiana Driver’s License

 

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Distribution System Large (DSL) Operators license
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in distribution systems and/or water treatment operations, or equivalent college coursework in a related technical field.
  • Working knowledge of distribution systems, water treatment plants, boosters, including computerized SCADA controls
