We have a career opportunity for a Plant Operations Supervisor  to join our team!

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance functions of water and wastewater treatment facilities as well as lift/booster stations and water storage facilities in a manner consistent with Citizens Energy Group’s Values. May serve as Operator in Responsible Charge at assigned facilities. Provides On-Call duties at assigned  Facilities. Supervisor is subject to 24 hour call resulting in frequent work at hours not regularly scheduled to assist scheduled on-call employees and may be required to take on-call from time to time.

Salary Minimum: $84,200 (Grade 10)

Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes and supervises the operation and maintenance activities associated with water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, booster stations, lift stations and water storage facilities.
  • Works with Operations Manager to manage costs vs. budget, implement department level strategic objectives/process control plans and key performance indicators.
  • Participates in construction planning and construction supervision of plant projects.
  • Directs the skills development of the staff. Evaluates staff performance
  • Prepares regulatory reports and compliance documentation
  • Other duties as may be assigned from time to time

Qualifications

  • Sound working knowledge of water and wastewater treatment plant operations and procedures including: regulatory requirements, water chemistry, water and wastewater processes, piping, electrical and scada instrumentation and controls, chemical feed systems.
  • Practical understanding of various codes and requirements:  e.g., National Electrical Code, OSHA, EPA air, wastewater and water rules, etc.
  • Knowledgeable in all aspects of plant safety and environmental regulatory requirements
  • Must know environmental rules and regulations as they pertain to water and waste water  treatment plant operation and maintenance activities  including air, waste, hazardous materials, water, sewer discharges, etc.
  • Graduation from high school, supplemented by special courses in electrical, mechanical and construction trades, equivalent to one year of schooling.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands on experience in Water  and/or Waste water Treatment or a related field.  Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Must have and maintain an Indiana Wastewater Class 4 license or the ability to obtain within 5 years.
  • Must have a valid Indiana Driver’s License.
  •  

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the construction, operational characteristics and functions of water and wastewater treatment plant and pumping station operations and equipment; and knowledge of the functions, testing and maintenance of tools and equipment used in the work.
  • Knowledge of all Federal Drinking water  and waste water regulations and related Federal and State permits that govern utility  operations.
  • Ability to utilize office software including word processing, work management and spreadsheet products.
  • Ability to do original research, make logical analysis, prepare reports covering estimated installation, operation and maintenance costs, and make recommendations in a clear and concise manner. 
  • Must have and maintain an Indiana Department of Environmental ManagementWT-3 and DSL Operators License or ability to obtain within 2 years
