We have an exciting career opportunity for an Engineer II (Thermal) to join our team!

 

The Engineer II (Thermal) provides project leadership as well as high-level technical and analytical expertise in the design and management of complex, large-scale, capital projects that have strategic importance to the Thermal Division’s Steam and Chilled Water business units.  Responsibilities include project development, engineering, design and technical support, and the management of available resources to bring projects to successful completion.  The Engineer II (Thermal) must possess and demonstrate thorough knowledge of departmental, divisional, and corporate objectives, and the incumbent must use that knowledge in the negotiation of contracts and the development of comprehensive project plans. The incumbent must also ensure compliance with practices, policies, procedures, legal requirements, and goals of Citizens Energy Group and its partners, and develop supporting documentation for tracking and monitoring of project budgets and schedules.

Minimum Salary: $73,400 (Grade 9)

Responsibilities

  • Continues to learn and remains current on departmental design guides, standards, systems, engineering codes, and Citizens policies and procedures.
  • Begins to apply knowledge and complies with Citizens Quality Program relative to assigned tasks. Supports continuous improvement and change management efforts.
  • Prepares moderately complex engineering deliverables. Performs complex research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection. Collects, assimilates, and manages data for engineering work. Prepares complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles. May provide direction and guidance to others.
  • Assigns tasks to and coordinates with other internal/external team members on less complex projects. Initiates contact with other disciplines as needed to identify and coordinate details of the work.
  • Actively seeks to understand client interests and drivers through normal client contact and interaction and communication with project leadership. Applies understanding of client interests and drivers to performance of the work under his/her responsibility. May provide support to business development or pursuit activities.
  • Understands and adheres to budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from either an ABET accredited program or a recognized accredited program in their home country, or sufficient education acceptable by management.
  • 2 years of related experience or 1 year of Citizens experience.
  • Valid driver’s license in the United States, or alternate approved by management. State of Indiana driver’s license required within 30 days of first day of employment. Preferred Skills/Qualifications

  • Additional education, certifications, licensing, experience and knowledge that would enhance the incumbent’s ability to perform the job.
  • Completion of engineering training program.
  • Intermediate knowledge of engineering design and applicable guides and standards related to assigned engineering discipline. Intermediate ability to interpret engineering deliverable content as assigned. Basic knowledge of Citizens Quality Program, and construction and constructability practices and principles.
  • Experienced in computer software in a Windows environment, Microsoft Office applications, and Oracle databases. Ability to work in office and field environment. Detailed understanding of utility systems.
