The successful candidate plays a crucial role in practicing their insurance and risk management knowledge and skills within a professional setting.
 
The Intern will gain practical experience during their temporary assignment, contributing to the overall efficiency of the Treasury department by assisting with insurance and risk management projects.

 

This position offers a hybrid work schedule, with responsibilities performed at our office as needed in Indianapolis, Indiana. 

Responsibilities

Under the general supervision of the Director of Treasury and the Senior Manager of Risk, Insurance and Claims, an intern will gain exposure to the following: 

  • Risk Management by evaluating various project types and supplier agreements to recommend options to improve risk transfer tools and streamline supplier compliance.
  • Insurance Management by evaluating all insurance policies protecting our Trust and their respective renewal processes. Validate digital copies of current policies and create Excel-based templates to centralize and streamline renewal management processes.
  • Claims Management by consolidating documentation from claimants and Operations including field reports, invoices, and payment requests to ensure accuracy and completeness. Assist with the auditing of data in ClaimPilot software to ensure comprehensive and complete data sets.
  • Surety Bonds by verifying limits and based on project type, jurisdiction and input from project managers and insurance broker. Prepare surety bond applications for Senior Manager of Risk, Insurance, and Claims
  • Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) by preparing reports and supporting documentation for annual ERM process and validating information in Riskonnect.
  • Third Party Administrators, contractors, and others involved with risk management and insurance by visiting claim sites, attending coordination meetings, and participating in RIMS events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in insurance, risk management, or finance.
  • Driven and detail oriented.
  • Desire to learn in a dynamic accounting environment.
  • Familiarity with insurance, risk management, or finance principles.
  • Able to combine information from multiple sources.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications and Adobe.
